Manufacturing Process — Melting & Forging

Nickel 201 is melted in electric furnaces (VIM/EAF) with exceptionally tight control of carbon (≤ 0.02%) and gaseous elements. Ingots are hot forged and rolled at 870–1230°C, then annealed at 705–925°C and water quenched for a soft recrystallized structure. Bars are peeled and centerless-ground, tubes cold-pilgered and pickled, and strip bright-annealed for clean surfaces. The low carbon level keeps carbides in solution, so mechanical properties remain stable during long-term high-temperature service.
